Romans & Carthaginians THE BATTLE Friday 25th September Afternoon / Evening Trip Buy Now One of the most stunning fiestas of the year …… The spectacular event of THE BATTLE recreates the events of the 2nd Punic War that took place more than 2,000 years ago for the conquest of the city by the Roman Legions of Scipio in 209 BC. We will arrive around 2pm with the landing to take place at 5pm when the Roman ships enter the port of Cartagena simulating a naval attack. After this the battle will take place (approx 6pm) between the Romans and Carthaginians near the city walls with horses, swords, torches and sound effects recreating the Roman siege of the city. Once the battle is completed, there is a ceremony outside the Cartagena Town Hall... It is the only occasion in which you can see all the festive groups parade, whether they are from the Carthaginian or Roman side. A spectacle in which music, drums, floats and war machines travel through the streets of the city to the delight of the spectators. Welcome to Condado de Alhama Welcome to Condado de Alhama Golf Resort, a natural paradise with a wide variety of options to enjoy the authentic Mediterranean lifestyle: healthy, simple, and full of amenities. The Condado de Alhama Social Committee has been set up by Presidents of the Community to bring everyone living or visiting Condado together. They are looking to offer a wide variety of activities and competitions for everyone to be able to participate in and enjoy during the summer months and throughout the year, so that holidaymakers and residents can come together and make memories with family & friends all year round. The Committee have the support of on-site businesses who are donating time and sponsorship money so the events can be privately funded and therefore FREE to everyone. This sponsorship ensures all events / activities are managed safely with equipment, trophies & security supplied as required. The Committee Members are volunteers who have come together to enhance what was previously known as the Condado Festival Committee. With people´s participation in the different activities provided by the Social Committee, the Condado community can take a step forward together and make this the start of a new journey in the celebration of community life here and something that can be built on and hopefully expanded for the future. Donate your unwanted board games, jigsaws, books, DVDs to the Social Committee for reuse throughout the community - good condition please (all pieces for jigsaws!!) So we are off to the fabulous winery of Casa Sicilia in Novelda, just outside Alicante where we will have a guided tour of the vineyards and winery then have a tasting of their red, rose and white wines accompanied with breads and tapas nibbles. We will then have a 4 course lunch (menu available on request) in their gorgeous onsite restaurant which has a section of glass floor where you can see the wine cellar below. You will then have time to look around the shop and purchase some of the wines, jams and olive oils produced there.
