The celebration of Moros y Cristianos (Moors & Christians) has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest and commemorates the founding of the city of Murcia.

The Day of the Entrance, which takes place on the 13th September, all the festival-goers, dress in their best clothes to carry out a joint parade with a spectacular tour through the streets of the city. The groups are lead by Christian leader Infante Alfonso de Castilla and the Moorish King Aben Hud of Murcia. A spectacle in which music, drums, floats and war machines travel through the streets of the city to the delight of the spectators.
